Google renamed Topeka

In an effort to boost its sagging brand image, low stock price and general lack of consumer awareness, Google has decided to re-brand itself with a name that everyone can relate to: Topeka.  As in Kansas.  After millions of dollars of research and hundreds of focus groups, the folks and Google decided that Topeka was as good a name as they could come up with with a limited budget and all the other good names already taken.

According to Google CEO Eric Schmidt. “We just thought Topeka sounded cool. It kind of sounds like “To Peak Ya” which is how we want you to feel when you use our search engine.  Kind of like ‘Yahoo” but with the added benefit that our new name is also a very popular destination in Kansas.”

Topeka means “to dig good potatoes” in the languages of the Kansa and the Ioway. Other potential names that were rejected were HappyEndingSearchEngine, WasillaGorilla, OhSnap,YouBetcha and WTF-OMG-ROTFL.com
