The rumor: You might have received in your e-mail or more recently via text message: Those little boxes of Tide detergent that you receive in the mail contain anthrax. And people are dying! Stop doing your laundry and head for the hills!
The truth: This is false. And if you stop to think about it for two seconds, you will realize just a little bit stupid. In spite of the fact that the rumor claims people are dying from anthrax in their Tide, neither the national media nor the government is warning anyone about this awful attack on people with dirty laundry.

I work for the Tide brand, I can 100% confirm that the text message going around is not true. From time to time people do this kind of thing as a prank, unfortunately there is little we can do other than to share the fact that this is completely unfounded.

But that doesnt stop people like Shawn Gould from posting the unfounded rumor on Facebook–his post even claims that 7 people are dead already.
