Day 3:Chase website still down. Was Chase Online Banking Hacked?

JP Morgan Chase

For over 24 hours, anyone who has been trying to access their online account at JP Morgan Chase, one ot the largest banks in the world, has been unable to access their accounts.  Now rumors abound that it may have been a hacker who brought down the entire system.  And Chase is not helping to dispell the rumors, refusing to comment on what is really happening.

The site went down Monday night and was down all day Tuesday. A Chase spokesman said service was restored early Wednesday, but later Wednesday morning the site again carried a message saying service was unavailable.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the main login page was still down for the Chase site, creating chaos for bank account and credit card users who rely upon the site being up and running.

It would seem that this website crash would be important enough that Chase would actually post something about it on their main website, but apparently they still lack in the customer service department.

Update: The login screens have returned but service is still not fully restored.  Chase spokesman Thomas Kelly said Chase would work with any customers who had online bill payment deadlines they couldn't meet because of the outage. Outraged bank customers took to their Twitter accounts to share their frustration.

For the last 2 weeks, access to Chase online has been touch and go. It is now 9/26/12 11:56am EDT and I can't get online. This is very, very frustrating. Hey hackers! You're not just hurting the big bankers, you are hurting all of us "little people" who need to simply pay our bills and had just an hour at lunch to get this personal work done. Thanks for nothing.

Chase told me today, 7/12/12, that they are aware of the problem, but have no resolution ETA. My iPhone app still works, but I am able to reach the log-in screen, but nothing further.

Here is another gem: if any of us (and I am one) use our chase cc as a payment source for paypal, paypal has just deleted 4 subscriptions (and a similar hack caused at least just a delay last momth). I sent a plea for reinstatement of subs, dont know how that is handled - I think the services just send me a link to paypal again to resub?

Happened back in 2010 as well, twto subs were deleted - and I blamed the services at first!

Probably just reenter the same cc info once Chase is back up and RUNNING.

Y'all failed to mention that Phone Credit Card Payment service was also reporting "Unavailable at this time" for at least last 22 hours - as 23 hours ago I was able to check balances; with the exception that, even though they showed recieved payment, and what the available credit IS, the available credit available showed 0.00 - dang.

Gotta say ever since Chase bot WAMU, I hate that bank! I closed everything but credit card and even has frequent fraudulent charges. Ignorant non-English speaking crap customer service and fees up the ass. Screw hackers, I'd like to bring them down myself!

My chase card, which I only use for Amazon online purchases, has been charged for freecreditrepor t.com fees that I did not authorize. Since I rarely use this card and never have a balance, I can't figure out who or what got my account number.

Yes, they were hacked, and the hackers made off with personal information and credit card information. 9-19-2010 I started receiving fraudulent charges on my credit card approximately 4.

- Two charges were for dating services
- One charge was for ADOBE software (From Adobe)
- One charge from a computer/gaming website, someone buying computer software.
